Siemens Healthcare announced on April 2 that the FDA has cleared the Cios Alpha, the company’s new mobile C-arm system with flat-panel detector. According to Siemens, the new system has a power output of 25 kW and has a field of view “up to 25% larger than conventional C-arms.”

Features of the Cios Alpha include a touch screen interface, a position storage feature, and an active cooling system that helps to maintain good image quality during prolonged interventions. The system can be operated from any of three identical touch screens on the C-arm, the mobile workstation, and the tableside control. In combination with along with its 25 kW power output, the company says, the system’s 30 x 30 cm detector provides high-resolution, high-contrast images and can cover the finest structures.
