Version 3.5 of Siemens Healthcare’s Acuson Freestyle ultrasound system includes enhanced needle visualization, expanded image display, and an app that connects the system to Microsoft Windows tablets. The new version was announced by Siemens on October 10.

The mobile link app connects through a shared wireless network to allow providers to view, open, and share images and clips within the stored patient study list. Through the app, clinicians can also create new patient study worklists and transmit them to the Acuson Freestyle system.

This updated version of the ultrasound system also includes new enhanced needle visualization, designed to improve needle display during ultrasound-guided procedures. An updated user interface aims at improving ease-of-use with a larger clinical image display, preset display customization, and an up-to-60-second clip playback feature, along with the option to auto-hide imaging parameters.
