A new ultrasound system from Edan Medical, the Acclarix LX8, made its debut in November at the MEDICA 2014 World Forum for Medicine in Dusseldorf, Germany. The Acclarix LX8 is approved for use in general radiology and point-of-care applications.

The high-fidelity, high channel-count architecture of the Acclarix LX8 system provides significant computing power, enabling high image quality and color Doppler sensitivity, according to the company.

Design features include a touch screen user interface, tilt-and-swivel monitor, motorized 20-cm console height adjustment, needle visualization technology, and application-specific exam presets. Seven fully optimized transducers cover general imaging applications for abdomen, OB/GYN, cardiac screening, vascular, breast, small parts, musculoskeletal, nerves and 3D/4D imaging.

Edan Medical also unveiled its Acclarix AX8 Compact Ultrasound System, for point-of-care applications, last month at the annual Anesthesiology 2014 meeting in New Orleans. Both products are still pending regulatory clearance, and are not yet commercially available.
