DePuy Synthes has announced that it recently acquired medical device manufacturing company Olive Medical Corporation. DePuy Synthes is part of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies. According to their website, the DePuy Synthes Companies offer a portfolio of orthopaedic and neurologic products and services for joint reconstruction, trauma, spine, sports medicine, and cranio-maxillofacial conditions, among others. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Salt Lake City-based, privately held Olive Medical provides affordable HD MIS imaging equipment to operating rooms, including high-definition (HD) visualization systems for minimally invasive surgery (MIS). All of the company’s video manufacturing is based in the United States.

With the acquisition of Olive Medical, DePuy Synthes Companies report that they will provide arthroscopic visualization solutions as part of their full-line offering, and expand access to the technology through their extensive global distribution network. The acquisition also strengthens DePuy Synthes Companies’ offering as a single source provider of orthopaedic products, programs, and services for customers who are seeking to simplify supplier networks.
