AAMI’s 2014 HTM Week poster
The gears are already turning to prepare for AAMI’s annual Healthcare Technology Management Week, taking place this year May 17–23, 2015. Sponsored by AAMI’s Technology Management Council, the activities celebrate the efforts of biomeds, clinical engineers, and other members of the field.
At the HTM Week event page, the association has announced it will be again holding a contest to recognize the best department celebration, won last year by the University of Missouri Health Care/Tiger Institute clinical engineering department. A free poster will also be available for download and display closer to the event.
AAMI provides links to a sample press release that can be customized and forwarded to media outlets, as well as a letter to state and local officials encouraging them to formally recognize the week. There are also a number of creative suggestions for raising the profession’s profile, such as hosting a family barbecue or baseball game outing for HTM team members, presenting on the profession at a local school or career fair, and holding an open house or booth demonstration for colleagues in other departments to educate them about the role of the HTM team.
