ECRI Institute has announced the appointment of its top device evaluation and safety executive, James P. Keller, Jr, MS, to a new role in expanding its international footprint. Keller will now serve as vice president of international market development.

In his new position, Keller will lead the integration of enterprise resources and activities from ECRI Institute’s headquarters in Plymouth Meeting, Pa, with its international operations, which include offices in the Asia Pacific, European, and Middle East regions. ECRI announced that Keller will support and collaborate on worldwide business development, public service initiatives, and public speaking engagements, and coordinate visits of international dignitaries to ECRI’s headquarters, as well as lead efforts to harmonize global products. His role will also involve development of new tools, programs, services, and products for the diverse international marketplace.

According to ECRI, Keller has spent nearly 20 years leading the Institute’s medical device laboratory evaluation program, which is part of its Health Devices membership service. Keller has received international recognition for his wide range of health technology-related expertise, ECRI reports, including patient safety, equipment management, strategic planning and forecasting, device utilization, nomenclature and asset management, and the convergence of medical devices and information systems.

“The international healthcare marketplace is evolving rapidly,” Keller said in ECRI’s announcement. “My new role will improve ECRI’s escalating global business and improve patient safety worldwide. It’s a very exciting opportunity.”
