Delegates visiting MR Solutions’ new exhibit stand at two conferences in June 2015 could observe the company’s 3T, 4.7T, and 7T MRI cryogen-free magnet technology for preclinical imaging. The UK-based company says these MRI systems provide good soft tissue contrast and high spatial resolution, and can now be placed inside a Class 3 or 4 laboratory as external venting is no longer needed.

MR Solutions’ exhibitions at the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM 2015) conference held in Toronto, and the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI 2015) conference held in Baltimore were opportunities for the company to display its new cryogen-free MRI systems as well as its new PET-MRI technology, which is said to enable PET-MRI imaging to be carried out simultaneously or sequentially.

“The delegates at ISMRM and SNMMI that we have spoken to were very keen to hear about our multi-modality imaging systems and additional PET and SPECT accessories,” said David Taylor, PhD, physicist and CEO of MR Solutions. “We are really delighted to be able to offer a system which can not only meet their MRI needs, but can also incorporate additional PET and SPECT functions too.”

MR Solutions’ magnet technology includes superconducting wire which is intended to eliminate the need for a bulky helium cooling system and external vent. This would have been necessary for traditionally-built MRI systems. According to the company, the new technology reduces costs and virtually eliminates the stray magnetic field to a few centimeters, allowing placement of these machines inside laboratories rather than in purpose-built facilities.
