Zonare, a California-based developer of next-generation ultrasound technology, announced that Timothy Proulx had recently been named as vice president of engineering. According to Zonare, Proulx has extensive medical imaging and device experience. He will oversee both the software and hardware engineering teams for the company.

“We are pleased to have Tim join Zonare,” said Glen McLaughlin, PhD, founder and president of Zonare. “With more than 25 years of experience, Tim will lead our efforts to expand our next-generation Zone Sonography Technology (ZST) as we seek to provide clinicians with state-of-the-art ultrasound imaging capabilities. We look forward to the company’s ongoing technology evolution under his guidance.”

Prior to joining Zonare, Proulx held similar positions at Sonitus Medical Systems and EarLens Corporation and had senior-level engineering responsibilities at numerous companies, including Cabochon Aesthetics, BC Tech, and Acuson/Siemens Medical. Proulx received a bachelor’s degree in biomedical and electrical engineering from Duke University and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University. He also holds five patents within the medical imaging and device field.

“I believe Zonare is generating the pathway to a new diagnostic standard of choice,” said Proulx in the announcement. “ZST enables exceptional image quality with exquisite grey scale and color Doppler imaging, along with enhanced penetration plus new capabilities. Most importantly, I think we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg as we continue to evolve this technology, providing significant tools in assisting clinicians with greater diagnostic confidence.”
