SonoSim Inc, a global provider of ultrasound training and education products based in California, has announced the release of SonoSim 2G, its next-generation software package.

According to the company, the software update is designed to improve the ability of the SonoSim Ultrasound Training Solution to provide Doppler ultrasound, obstetric ultrasound, and ultrasound-guided needle-based-procedure training and performance assessment. Using the system, medical care providers can now perform virtual echocardiographic and vascular Doppler studies, fetal biometric assessments, and ultrasound-guided procedures using their own personal computers.

The company also announced that it is concurrently releasing Advanced Focused Cardiac Ultrasound and Obstetric Ultrasound training modules that leverage the company’s real-patient case library and the updated platform’s technical features.

“With this new upgrade, everybody from the seasoned physician to the first-year medical student will have access to this realistic and effective ultrasound simulation product,” said Dan Katz, MD, an emergency physician and vice president of SonoSim Inc.

The SonoSim Ultrasound Training Solution can be configured for institutional or individual clients, who can convert their own personal computers into ultrasound training platforms via the SonoSim Personal Solution.
