SuperSonic Imagine, a French company specializing in ultrasound medical imaging, has announced the appointment of Hermann Requardt, PhD, former chief executive officer of Siemens Healthcare, as chairman of its supervisory board. Requardt has been serving as an independent strategic advisor to the supervisory board since May 2015 and will replace Bernard Doorenbos, who has been acting chairman since May 2015. Doorenbos will continue as a member of the supervisory board.

Requardt is an honorary professor of physics at the Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, and serves on several academic and industrial boards. He most recently served as chief executive officer of Siemens Healthcare from 2009 to February 2015. Prior to that, he was chief technology officer of Siemens AG. He began his career in 1984 as a physicist within Siemens Medical Solution’s imaging division and holds a PhD in Biophysics, with a focus on radiation biophysics and microbiology, from the University of Frankfurt.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr Requardt as the chairman of the supervisory board,” said Tom Egelund, SuperSonic Imagine’s chief executive officer. “Since May, he has been instrumental in providing superior short- and medium-term guidance to SuperSonic Imagine, and his significant knowledge of the company sets the stage for a seamless transition to the chairman of the supervisory board.”

Supersonic Imagine is based in Aix-en-Provence, France. The company developed the Aixplorer ultrasound system with UltraFast platform and ShearWave Elastography, which improves the detection and characterization of numerous pathologies in several applications including breast, thyroid, liver, and prostate.
