In 2014, the annual AAMI/FDA summit will focus on improving the safety and effectiveness of ventilator technology used in operating rooms, critical care units, and other settings. Held September 16–17 in Herndon, Va, the event will bring together leaders from the medical device industry and regulatory bodies, clinicians from healthcare institutions (physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists), researchers, healthcare technology professionals, independent experts, and others. These participants will identify the issues, set priorities, build consensus, and develop action plans for immediate next steps to address those issues.
