Service Solutions: Spectrum Analyzers |
| |
by Lisa Fratt |
| |
No one wants to be told to check his cell phone, PDA or walkie-talkie at the hospital
door, yet the potential for radio frequency conflicts and electromagnetic interference
continues to grow as wireless devices proliferate in and out of the hospital. For
biomeds, the best defense is a good offense: a spectrum analyzer that can evaluate an
area, collect test data and serve as a maintenance tool. |

Have you ever considered returning to school? Are you interested in completing a
bachelors degree using your current educational accomplishments as a springboard? Do
your goals include advanced degrees that would enable you to teach in a biomedical
engineering program? All of these scholarly objectives are available as on-line learning
opportunities, where the scholarship is real, even if the classroom is virtual. |

Day in the Life: Biomed in Ethiopia |
| |
by Marie S. Marchese |
| |
One day earlier this year Michael Link, CBET, was offering a donation of used medical
equipment to the American Medical Resources Foundation; in May he was in a classroom in
Africa, teaching the principles of cardiology to 20 native BMETS. While Link left behind
equipment and knowledge that will help save lives, he came away with a heartwarming
appreciation for the people and customs of Ethiopia. |
