A monthly look at whats shakin with local biomedical associations
TABETA
Darin Ramey and Bill Gardner of Spacelabs Medical, Inc. spoke to the Tulsa Area Biomedical
Equipment Technicians Association about telemetry and other technology when the group got
together on Jan. 17. There was lots of good shop-talk, along with door prizes
donated by DNI Nevada; John Jay and Jay Medical of Dallas; and Rick Glover of American
West Medical representing Bio-Tek. As they say in Oklahoma, Youll always be a
winner with TABETA on your side!
ACES
The Alberta Clinical Engineering Society held its annual general meeting on Feb. 9 with GE
Medical Systems Canada presenting on asset tracking and asset management technology. It
was a grand event! Also, keep your eyes open for information on the upcoming 2002
ACES/IBET Western Regional Conference to be held in Edmonton, Alberta this fall.
MSCE
The Michigan Society of Clinical Engineering is having a great year. Dräger presented
ventilator technology improvements in December; Sonora on ultrasound testing equipment and
training in January. Our February meeting was on wireless monitoring by MDE. In March, we
have IMS, who represents both Bio-Tek and DNI. We are looking forward to a Scaletronix
service school in April and a HIPAA discussion in May.
BASW
The Biomedical Association of Southeastern Wisconsin dropped in on Medical Equipment
Consulting Services, Inc. of Brookfield. They toured the 60,000 square foot, ISO 9002
certified facility where MECS remanufactures GE diagnostic imaging equipment. Discussions
explained the ISO quality system and why that should be important to customers, and the
group got a glance at MECS stock of Renewal parts sold through its
MedPar Search division.
