The eighth annual HealthTech Conference and Exposition rolls
into Baltimore once again, continuing the tradition of offering in-depth and
thought-provoking sessions combined with new product announcements and a thriving exhibit
hall assembled at the Baltimore Convention Center.
Paying attention to the present and the future are equally important in this
industry, and the topics speakers plan to address at this years conference from
April 21 through 23 are certainly in line with that concept. From ongoing issues to those
likely to rear their heads soon, from both the perspective of front-line BMETs to
top-level clinical engineers and technology managers, theres plenty of opportunities
to gain knowledge and boost confidence so you can take your career to the next level and
be prepared for the challenges tomorrow surely will bring.
To make the best use of attendees time, the conference has been streamlined: The
exhibit hall will be open two full days. Sunday afternoon, the first day of the three-day
conference, will be filled with interactive workshops. Keynote speakers kick off the day
on Monday and Tuesday mornings at 9. Special events include the grand opening of the
exhibit hall on Monday at noon, a welcoming reception Monday at 5 p.m., and the popular
24x7 Readers Choice Awards presentation, scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. on
Tuesday.
These changes allow for plenty of time to access the exhibit hall and check out new
products and services offered by more than 45 exhibitors. Many of these companies plan on
rolling out new products and services this spring, some of them using HealthTech as their

New devices, gadgets and software are among the most exciting things about an
exposition, and this year therell be plenty to swoon over. Among them is the INCU
incubator analyzer by Bio-Tek Instruments Inc. (Winooski,Vt.). This portable device is
designed to verify the proper operation and environment of infant incubators, measuring
parameters important to infant care including airflow, sound level, temperature and
relative humidity. The analyzer comes with a heavy-duty rechargeable battery allowing it
to be placed within the incubator chamber for up to 35 hours. The data obtained can then
be viewed on its display or downloaded to a PC.
