NESCE
The New England Society of Clinical Engineers (NESCE) sponsored a Strategic Luncheon on
Feb. 10 to explore ways to provide more support for members, member organizations and the
biomedical engineering profession. More than 20 representatives from hospitals and ISOs
heard proposals to make comprehensive service schools available to the membership. The
NESCE also held a symposium in Sturbridge, Mass., which included 21/2 days of updates on
vendors latest technologies.
WSBA
The Washington State Biomedical Association (WSBA) is well along on plans for its annual
meeting, scheduled for Sept. 14. The WSBA Medical Technology Symposium will feature
seminars along three tracks Management, Technician and Networking/Radiology. The
WSBA also plans on classes covering topics such as DICOM, HIPAA, electronic record keeping
and WMTS.
NCBA
The University of Minnesota Veterinary Teaching Hospital was the host for the quarterly
meeting of the North Central Biomedical Association (NCBA) in early May. The meeting
included a tour of the facilities, followed by a luncheon. Members were scheduled to
discuss donations of used medical electronic equipment for the veterinary teaching
facility. The NCBA also is formulating plans for an educational seminar this fall.
GBS
The Gateway Biomedical Society (GBS of in St. Louis) has set its calendar of events for
2002. The GBS has meetings planned for July 18 at Forest Park Hospital and for Sept. 19 at
St. Lukes Hospital. In September, the GBS Golf Tournament will tee off. GBS played a
key role in the 2002 National Engineers Week at the St. Louis Science Center in
February, with its video arthroscope projecting onto a big screen.
