VBA
The Virginia Biomedical Association (VBA) will hold its annual meeting Wednesday through
Friday, Sept. 11-13, at the Kingsmill Marriott Resort in Williamsburg. This years
event, organized around the theme Striving for Excellence, opens with a golf tournament at
the Newport News Golf Club at Deer Run on Sept. 11, and continues with two days of formal
meetings, roundtable discussions for managers and technicians, educational sessions,
keynote speakers, exhibits and door prizes.
WSBA
The Washington State Biomedical Association kicked off its July 25 meeting at the North
Seattle Community College with a light dinner at 5:30 p.m., followed by presentations from
Masimo and Tyco-Nellcor regarding pulse oximetry technology. Those who carpooled to the
meeting received Starbucks gift cards worth $5.
NCBA
The North Carolina Biomedical Association (NCBA) is accepting nominations for the Manager
of the Year Award, sponsored by Spacelabs Medical, and the Professional of the Year Award,
sponsored by Hill-Rom. The awards, designed to recognize those who have contributed to the
biomedical profession and their local communities, each consist of a check for $1,000 and
a plaque.
KHEA
The Kansas Healthcare Engineering Association (KHEA) will get down to serious business at
its semiannual conference on Wednesday, Sept. 25, and Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Great
Bend, Kansas, Holiday Inn, following a golf tourney the day before, on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
Hill-Rom representatives will provide training on new and old products, and Airshields
representatives will host a presentation on incubators and gas piping.
