A look at whats shakin with local biomedical associations
NTBA
Members of the North Texas Biomedical Association (NTBA) last month met at the Childrens
Medical Center of Dallas to hear a presentation on biphasic waveforms by representatives
from Zoll Medical. Other items on the agenda included a presentation to the Mike Long
Memorial Scholarship fund and a drawing from a pool of eligible, paid members for two gift
certificates.
VBA
The Virginia Biomedical Association (VBA) will use the occasion of its annual meeting and
symposium in September to celebrate the associations 10th anniversary and honor its
founders. The theme, Decade of Excellence, will carry through educational
sessions, keynote addresses and award ceremonies. The groups annual golf tournament
on Sept. 24 will kick off the milestone symposium.
WSBA
Members of the Washington State Biomedical Association (WSBA) got together for dinner,
then gathered at the University of Washington Medical Center for their May meeting hosted
by medical equipment companies Datascope and Arrow International. The evenings
featured topic addressed the newest developments in intra-aortic balloon pump technology.
NCBA
Organizing their 25th annual symposium scheduled for Dec. 1-3 remains a priority for
members of the board of directors of the North Carolina Biomedical Association (NCBA). At
their May meeting, members continued to iron out details of the symposium, which will
include educational offerings, vendor presentations, networking and social events, and
golf outing. Destination, once again, is the legendary Pinehurst Resort and Country Club.
