DITEC Inc (Solon, Ohio) has announced that it has partnered with Pennsylvania State
University New Kensington (PSNK) to provide continuing education. The partnership
specifies that PSNK will award continuing education certificates based on criteria
provided by DITEC. The three successive certificates represent increasing competence in
diagnostic imaging maintenance technology. Each is based on a particular level of
demonstrated technology and academic achievement. Together they represent the career path
of those who maintain radiology and diagnostic imaging equipment.
The applied engineering technologydiagnostic radiology specialty certificate will
comprise DITECs level IIII and the associated practicum for each (27 CEUs).

AFSM Announces February Meeting
Notes
Official notes from the AFSM Minuteman and Boston ASP monthly meeting held February
10 have been released to the public. The meeting, and its discussions, focussed on
International Support Issues. More than 70 professionals attended Februarys meeting,
with many taking part in the lively question and answer session. Peter Boler, director of service marketing for Waters Corp and Al Da Silva,
vice president of services for GSI Lumonics spoke to attendees at the meeting regarding
topics like structural aspects of international support (centralized vs. decentralized).
Boler and Silva also discussed with attendees the differences in hardware (capital
intensive) and software support models, pricing, and cultural expectations.
According to sources from AFSM, the 2004 meeting was an
instructive session that revealed the complexities of delivering on an international
basis. For more information, call AFSM at (800) 333-9786, or visit www.afsmi.org. |
Vendors, CMIA Collaborate to Present Fair
Great things can happen when you bring together medical equipment vendors,
health care professionals, and a handful of CMIA members and officers who are dedicated to
the advancement of our future. Working together, the California Medical Instrumentation
Association (CMIA) and more than 40 vendors have organized this years annual medical
equipment vendor fair. Health care professionals in the Sacramento and surrounding areas
will have the opportunity to view some of the latest advanced and innovative technology
for the coming year.
Alan Koreneff, Sutter Healths Bay Area manager for the clinical equipment
management division and the president of CMIAs Capitol Region chapter says,
"Dedication to the advancement of the future of medical equipment technology is a
shared value of Sutter Healths clinical equipment management division and CMIA.
Together, we provide the medical equipment industry a network of medical equipment
engineers and technicians that work together to advance technology and guard patient
safety."
CMIA is a statewide organization that provides members with training and networking
opportunities within the medical equipment industry. Monthly meetings at each of the
chapters allow members to share knowledge and experiences to expand the collective
awareness of the industry.
Proceeds from the medical equipment vendor fair will benefit the Frank Yip Scholarship
Fund. This fund has awarded four separate scholarships over the past 3 years to
individuals pursuing a career in the medical equipment technology field.
This years vendor fair will be on Saturday, Aug 21, 2004 at the Double Tree Hotel
in Sacramento, Calif from 9 AM to 3 PM.
