Sonora and Prosonic sign supply agreement; Unfors announces new president; USCS and Radiology Partners Inc enter agreement

Sonora Medical Systems and Prosonic enter Supply and Development Agreement
Sonora Medical Systems, a supplier of aftermarket products, services, and test equipment to the medical imaging market, announces the signing of an exclusive license and supply agreement with Prosonic Co Ltd (Seoul, South Korea). Under the terms of the agreement, Sonora will convey certain proprietary capabilities and intellectual property to Prosonic for use in that company’s repair operations on diagnostic ultrasound transducers. The agreement also allows Prosonic to perform refurbishment and supply of diagnostic ultrasound systems in South Korea and other markets in Asia. Prosonic designs and manufactures more than 10,000 transducer probes per year for various ultrasound companies worldwide, and recently established a joint venture with Siemens Medical Solutions to manufacture some of its transducers.

Speaking of the agreements, Sang Dong, managing director of Prosonic said, “These two agreements are significant to us as we are able to not only focus on manufacturing transducers worldwide, but also to expand our role into a growing repair and refurbishment market in Asia. We are extremely optimistic to carry out this new mission within the Asian market with Sonora.”

 Unfors Announces New President
Unfors Instruments Inc (New Milford, Conn), a subsidiary of Unfors Instruments AB (Billdal, Sweden), has appointed Patrick Pyers as president and CEO of the company. Since 1999, Pyers has served as vice president of sales and marketing for Unfors and has been instrumental in the development of the organization within the United States and Canada. Unfors manufactures measuring instruments for quality assurance and service of diagnostic x-ray equipment and a line of radiation protection meters to increase the radiation awareness and decrease the dose.

“The past 5 years have been very rewarding and exciting for me,” says Pyers. “I look forward to the days ahead … with the further development of today’s technology and the expansion of the US subsidiary.”

USCS and Radiology Partners Inc Enter Agreement

USCS Equipment Technology Solutions (Brookfield, Wis), a provider of asset management services to health care, has announced the signing of a strategic agreement with Radiology Partners Inc (RPI, Tampa, Fla), an affiliate of MedAssets, HSCA. Under the terms of the agreement, RPI members will have access to the same USCS services enjoyed by acute-care members.

RPI is a group purchasing organization with a focus on radiology. The organization has more than 1,500 clinic and physician practices as members representing more than 10,000 physicians in 36 states. RPI has joined with USCS for its Lifecycle program, which reduces, controls, and manages costs in all aspects of asset management.

“RPI is excited to provide this solution to our members,” says Tonia Kraus, director and general manager of RPI. “The long-standing results USCS has achieved for hospital radiology clients should translate well to the diagnostic imaging center environment.”

The USCS Lifecycle program provides two major components: management maintenance and equipment acquisition resource. The program includes needs assessment and equipment planning, technology selection, and equipment financing to aid health care facilities in the acquisition, operation, and maintenance of clinical equipment. The USCS Lifecycle program recently earned an endorsement of the American Hospital Association.
