By the
time most of you receive this issue, you
probably will be preparing for your Thanksgiving feast. If you specialize
in imaging, you might also be preparing for the Annual Meeting and
Exhibition of the Radio-logical Society of North America (RSNA) in
Chicago.
Celebrating its 92nd year, RSNA offers attendees
refresher courses, scientific sessions, and—probably of most
interest to 24x7’s
readers—more than 700 exhibits. Anticipating 60,000 people, the
association has created a user-friendly floor
plan to make sure everyone can connect easily with their area of
interest. One addition to the program guide is the content code
“QA,” which will help attendees find courses and sessions that
include information on quality improvement, quality assessment, and patient
safety.
RSNA features a plethora of the latest imaging
products that provide a glimpse into the future and the direction the
market is taking with technology and software developments.
What’s on the agenda? Imaging Diagnostic Systems
Inc will showcase the CT Laser Mammography system, a laser-based
breast-imaging modality that combines the technologies of optical molecular
imaging and CT. Requiring neither compression nor injection, the procedure
images angiogenesis, helping clinicians to differentiate between benign and
malignant lesions.
Naviscan PET Systems will debut the new design of its
high-resolution PET device, the PEM Flex Solo PET scanner. Designed to
image small body parts, it was developed to diagnose and locate cancer,
guide interventions, and advance new clinical therapies.
Ashva Technologies offers RADiON, a 3D
visualization plug-in that can be configured as a viewing solution for an
existing PACS or can function as a stand-alone DICOM modality PACS.
In software, DeJarnette Research Systems Inc will
introduce the xDL cross-enterprise document librarian, which will offer
inexpensive and reliable off-site storage of PACS data. CHILI USA
Inc’s CHILI software suite is IHE compliant and includes a
diagnostic workstation client, a Web-enabled delivery engine for clinical
archive access, and a fully integrated cooperative teleradiology system.
What else does the future hold in imaging equipment?
You can read a comprehensive listing in the November issue of our
sister magazine, Medical Imaging, that includes a special section on RSNA. Visit the
magazine online at www.medicalimagingmag.com, or if
you are strolling the halls at RSNA, stop by booth 3115 in the South Hall.
You can pick up a copy of 24x7 while you’re there.
