TRACE GAS ANALYZER
BC Group,
St Louis, introduces the new Bacharach nitrous
oxide trace gas analyzer (TGA), which uses a nondispersive IR
cell that provides stability and repeatability with a measurement
resolution of 1 ppm. The instrument features data-logging
capabilities, TWA, leak detection, auto-zero, and an
alarm. It has an internal sampling pump, and the self-contained
purge-air bag allows the analyzer to auto-zero in
contaminated environments. It measures trace nitrous oxide
levels in ORs and other rooms in a hospital to the NIOSH
standard.

ELECTROMEDICAL TEST KIT
The model 288 test kit, a recent addition to the range of electromedical
test instrumentation from Rigel, Peterlee, England,
is a special equipment
package for EBME testing
in line with the new
IEC 62353 standard for
medical devices. The
kit links the new IEC
62353-compliant tester
with a range of
Bluetooth-enabled test
accessories to help
biomedical engineering
personnel and service engineers perform recurrent and
postrepair testing on medical devices. The handheld instrument
features menu-driven instructions for operation, and test
control in manual, semiautomatic, or fully automatic test
modes. It stores results of electrical safety tests and can
record user-defined inspections and measurements from
specialist electromedical equipment, such as SpO2, NIBP, and
ECG. It is equipped with Bluetooth technology for the wireless
connection of bar code scanners and label printers to enable
cable-free data transfer and safety labeling without the need
for plugging and unplugging leads and cords.

WIRELESS TEMPERATURE MONITORING SOLUTION
AeroScout Inc,
Redwood City, Calif, offers a wireless temperature
monitoring application for logging and alerting staff of
temperature fluctuations for critical health care items and
products over standard Wi-Fi networks. The FDA-registered
solution uses Wi-Fi RFID tags with
integrated temperature sensors, and
a software module for logging and
acting upon temperature data. Tags
placed in refrigerators, freezers, and
deep freezers—containing vaccines,
pharmaceuticals, tissues, blood bags,
organs, and patient test results—
wirelessly and automatically send
temperature readings over standard
Wi-Fi networks to the company's
MobileView software. Alerts are sent
to hospital staff if a cooling unit's
temperature reading exceeds or
drops below a set threshold. The
software stores temperature logs, alerts, and corrective
actions. Users can generate reports and analyze temperature
trends and deviations. The tags and infrastructure can also be
used for medical asset tracking and patient workflow improvement.

MEDICAL-GRADE POWER STRIPS FOR MOVABLE EQUIPMENT
Tripp Lite,
Chicago, has two
new power strips, the PS-415-
HG-OEM and the PS-615-HGOEM,
in its line of hospital/
medical-grade products. Both
units are UL-recognized for
1363a standards, and are
designed as components of a
larger system, such as mobile
medical carts. They meet the
UL 1363a guidelines to provide
power to plug-connected components
of movable equipment
assembly—such as racks,
tables, and pedestals—and can
be installed on mobile carts and IV poles. Model PS-415 (four
outlets) and the PS-615 (six outlets) feature NEMA 5-15R-HG
hospital-grade receptacles to provide power-distribution
solutions, all-metal cases, a 15-foot AC power cord with a
NEMA 5-15P-HG hospital-grade plug, two built-in 15A resettable
circuit breakers, and a switchless design to help prevent
accidental shutoff.
