A HIMSS Webinar will take place on February 14 at 12 pm EST and will discuss the integration of medical devices into a hospital’s existing IT network.

Medical devices can no longer be seen as stand-alone components and have been targeted in Meaningful Use Phase 3 as a potential integration point. A major requirement for most manufacturers has become the creation of connected devices—especially wireless ones. However, this presents problems because many medical devices are still based on traditional proprietary communication technologies and integration is notoriously difficult.

The Webinar, “Advances in Wireless Technologies for Healthcare—The Do’s and Don’ts of Medical Device Integration,” will feature connectivity expert and software architect Shahid Shah, who will present some practical “do’s and dont’s” of medical device to health IT software connectivity.
