Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc has announced that Indiana University (IU) Hospital recently installed two Ultimax™ multipurpose all-digital X-ray systems, expanding the hospital’s procedural capacity.  IU Hospital is the national leader in performing ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) procedures and the Ultimax system provides clinicians an unprecedented level of clinical flexibility due to its efficiency and advanced ergonomic design.

The Ultimax is an advanced multipurpose X-ray system used primarily in gastrointestinal and digestive system examinations and features innovative technology that supports diagnostic and interventional application versatility, enhances imaging capabilities and streamlines workflow.  It also features system technology that maximizes productivity through rapid positioning capabilities and multitasking operations.

According to Don Volz, director, X-ray Business Unit at Toshiba, the volume of ERCP procedures handled by IU Hospital makes it an ideal setting to fully leverage the Ultimax’s robust capabilities.  “Clinicians at IU perform more than 2,500 cases per year and installation of both Ultimax systems will dramatically improve their workflow and patient throughput, while ensuring patient comfort and satisfaction,” said Volz.
