St Louis Children's Hospital announces the installation of Siemens Healthcare’s small footprint SOMATOM Definition AS computed tomography (CT) scanner, which helps protect patient via dose protection controls.

Responding to concerns over radiation exposure to patients during scans, Siemens has included its adaptive dose shield in the scanner. The dose shield helps block unnecessary dose before and after spiral scans, ensuring that the only clinically relevant doses are applied to the patient.

CARE Dose 4D, Siemens’ real-time dose modulation also assists in guaranteeing maximum image quality at minimum dose for every patient during spiral scans.
 
Additionally, the scanner features an 18-m2 footprint, allowing it to fit in spaces traditionally deemed unsuitable for high-end CT scanners.
