Acertara Acoustic Laboratories has announced that its president and CEO, G. Wayne Moore, has been appointed to the board of directors of Rivanna Medical. Rivanna Medical is an early-stage diagnostic ultrasound device company that grew out of the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and Department of Biomedical Engineering.

“Wayne’s senior executive and corporate governance expertise, along with his extensive history of developing emerging, technology-intensive companies, will be a tremendous asset to our company,” said John A. Williams, president and CEO of Rivanna Medical. “As a seasoned executive with hands-on experience navigating the medical device market, Wayne offers Rivanna an invaluable asset as we commence commercialization of Accuro—a disruptive, game-changing device platform technology.”

A 30-year veteran of the diagnostic ultrasound market, Moore has been directly involved in the development, regulatory clearance, and commercialization of more than 15 ultrasound systems. Moore has published several pieces on diagnostic ultrasound and is a frequent speaker at medical imaging and technical conferences. In 2009, he was elected as a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE).

Rivanna is currently working to commercialize its first product, a 510(k)-cleared spinal anesthesia guidance system with a variety of additional imaging applications, such as diagnostic imaging of the cardiac and abdominal anatomies. For more information, visit Rivanna Medical’s website.
