The American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association has named Ohio-based Barnesville Hospital its 2017 Energy Champion—an award that highlights the hospital’s leadership in becoming a more energy-efficient facility and using saved resources to support patient care. Barnesville Hospitals joins dozens of other hospitals that have earned an Energy to Care Award for slashing energy use.

ASHE will recognize these hospitals—as well as local affiliated chapters who competed against each other in an energy savings competition—at its 54th Annual Conference and Technical Exhibition, which takes place from August 6-9 in Indianapolis.

The Energy to Care program, sponsored by Johnson Controls, encourages hospitals across the country to reduce their energy consumption. Facilities that reduce energy by 10% or more over the previous year—and previous Energy to Care winners who go on to reduce consumption by an additional 5%—are eligible to win an Energy to Care Award.
