Medical diagnostic device provider Welch Allyn and medical measurement leader seca have announced a partnership to enable wireless connectivity between their devices. The Welch Allyn Connex Vital Signs Monitor (VSM) can now interface with seca scales and measuring devices via the seca 360° system from up to 98 feet away. This marks the first time Welch Allyn has offered a wireless weight and height data solution for low-acuity settings.

The devices communicate through a seca adapter that plugs into the Connex VSM. Data automatically flows into the VSM, preventing errors due to manual entry and increasing recording speed. Wireless connectivity enables users to customize equipment configuration for optimal workflow. The agreement covers seca digital column scales, measuring stations, pediatric scales, multifunctional wheelchair scales, bariatric scales, chair scales, and the seca medical Body Composition Analyzer (mBCA).

‘This partnership seems to be a natural fit between seca and Welch Allyn as both companies focus on providing solutions that help improve the first interaction between healthcare providers and patients,” said Lyndsey Nunez, marketing manager of seca North America. “Additionally, the seca 360° system encrypts the transmission by Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with seca’s own wireless protocol, and is protected from interaction with other networks.  So, multiple seca devices can be used together, and with the Welch Allyn Connex VSM, securely in any clinical environment.”
