Canon USA Inc, Lake Success, NY, together with its wholly-owned subsidiary, Virtual Imaging Inc, has entered a two-year contract with Medical Management International Inc, which does business as Banfield Pet Hospital, Portland a general veterinary practice. Under the agreement, Banfield will use the Canon CXDI-55G(B) digital radiography (DR) system in locations in North America and South America. The thin and lightweight CXDI-55G(B) DR system can integrate into existing x-ray systems—a feature that was a factor in Banfield’s decision. The DR system, which produces on-screen preview images in three seconds after exposure, can help veterinarian visits become more efficient and improve the digital radiography process for pets.

“Canon is honored to receive this national-scale contract from Banfield Pet Hospital, a market leader in providing high-quality veterinary care, as well as industry-leading protocols and equipment, to pets and their families,” said Tsuneo Imai, senior director and general manager, health care solutions division, business imaging solutions group, Canon USA. “Selecting Canon’s expertise in medical imaging solutions reflects Banfield Pet Hospital’s commitment to providing comprehensive veterinary care with equipment that produces exceptional DR images and incorporates large-area detection with high sensitivity.”

Additionally, Virtual Imaging Inc, will supply the integration solution and have technicians available for training, service, and support for the DR system throughout the duration of the contract.
