Hitachi Medical Systems America Inc announced that it received FDA clearance to market two new CT imaging models within its Scenaria platform, the new Scenaria SE 64 and the SE 128.

According to Hitachi Medical, the Scenaria SE models have new workflow-speed and ease-of-use capabilities to facilitate higher daily scanning volumes. The Scenaria SE models include existing Scenaria platform features, such as premium 64/128-slice imaging technologies, and are reported to be Smart-Dose (XR-29) compliant with lower dose patient safety capabilities.

The two new Scenaria SE systems have several platform enhancements intended to improve workflow, including a 40% increase in both standard reconstruction speed (up to 50 images per second) and MPR reconstruction speed, with added automation of frequent use operator functions. Scenaria SE also includes an upgrade of the standard patient table weight capacity to 550 pounds, for bariatric patient accommodation.

Hitachi is providing a no-charge upgrade to full Scenaria SE capabilities for its entire installed base of Scenaria customers covered by warranty or full service agreements. “This upgrade is in addition to our commitments of unlimited no-charge applications training revisits and full replacement coverage of x-ray tubes without cost proration, under our warranty,” said Sheldon Schaffer, vice president and general manager of MR/CT, Hitachi Medical.
