GE Healthcare’s Vscan with Dual Probe is the first of its kind 2-in-1 probe, according to the company, which rolled out the device during the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America.

The pocket-sized ultrasound system houses two transducers in a single probe which should allow clinicians to see shallow views of the body—such as lungs, lines (central and peripheral), legs, long bones—and deep views—including the thoracic cavity and abdomen—without changing probes, according to GE.

The dual probe allows clinicians to quickly triage patients (with eFAST or CLUE examinations) and to perform a number of procedures, including paracentesis, thoracentesis, and amniocentesis.
