Health care IT company Barco, in partnership with point-of-care systems provider Hospedia, has launched an interactive patient care system for hospitals that is designed to provide a better patient experience and to improve facility efficiency and profitability. As described by Barco, CareConnex connects patients and healthcare professionals at the point of care. Patients can use the system for a variety of purposes, from accessing television, Internet, e-mail, and games to ordering their meals and communicating with their caregivers. At the same time, providers can directly capture patient feedback to improve the delivery of care and further boost patient satisfaction scores. The system also allows staff to access a patient’s electronic medical records (EMR) and the hospital information system (HIS) while safeguarding patient privacy.
