Hitachi Medical Systems America has installed several of its Echelon Oval 1.5T MRI systems with new Evolution 5 Software capabilities at community hospitals around the United States. Offering a 74 cm wide bore, the Echelon Oval is the widest available 1.5T MR system, according to Hitachi officials.

St. Joseph’s Candler Hospital in Savannah, Ga., recently installed Echelon Oval in their radiology department and could not be more pleased. According to Cheryl Rawlings, the hospital’s imaging department manager, “it’s the size of the bore—and the uncompromised quality of the images that have gone furthest in making Candler’s MRI capabilities the talk of the town.”

N.H.-based Concord Hospital is another institution that recently installed the Echelon Oval in its hospital outpatient imaging center—and the hospital is in the process of installing the Hitachi Oasis High-Field Open MRI in another facility. Mark Hadley, MD, Concord Hospital’s medical director led the selection process and stated: “After careful evaluation, including input from customers, we selected MRI’s made by Hitachi.

He added: “We are particularly pleased to have their High-Field Open and Oval Bore MRI’s, which provide our patients with enhanced comfort and the highest quality of imaging available.”
