Summit Healthcare has announced a new partnership with Nexus Health Systems, a four-facility health network in Houston, Tex, specializing in long-term acute care, pediatric specialty acute care and neurobehavioral rehabilitation. Nexus has chosen Summit Healthcare as its integration partner in anticipation of the provider’s conversion from paper records to the Meditech 5.66 electronic medical record (EMR) platform in spring 2014.

While Meditech will serve as the primary healthcare information system, the Summit Express Connect interface will address integration needs for ancillary systems to meet operational requirements. As a specialized provider, Nexus required a tightly integrated system while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

“As a new Meditech customer, we needed to have a stable and scalable integration environment in place to manage our integration needs today and in the future,” said Deepak Chaudhry, vice president of information systems for Nexus Health Systems. “Taking this into consideration, planning for future interoperability needs and industry regulations, we began looking at interface engine technology options. We are pleased with our selection of Summit Healthcare and look forward to a long partnership.”
