John Dineen, 45, will take the reins as president and CEO of GE Healthcare, UK, a $17 billion presence in medical diagnostic technology and biosciences.

The 22-year GE veteran joined the company in 1986 as a telecommunications engineer and since 2005 he has served as president and chief executive of GE Transportation, a $4.5 billion enterprise.

Dineen has been in the top ranks of the company’s management tier for years, serving as VP and general manager of plastics at GE Advanced Materials, general manager of GE Power Equipment, general manager of the meter business; general manager of the microwave and air-conditioning businesses, manager of finance in Asia, and president of GE Plastics-Pacific.

GE Healthcare specializes in medical imaging and information technologies, medical diagnostics, patient monitoring systems, performance improvement, drug discovery, and biopharmaceutical manufacturing technologies.
