Lately, I’ve had a lot of conversations with industry members about clinical alarms. Nuisance alarms continue to plague clinicians and remain a critical topic regarding patient safety. In 2005 and 2006, the Healthcare Technology Foundation (HTF) conducted a national survey of clinical alarm issues and received more than 1,300 responses from health care personnel. It incorporated the results into a white paper, “Impact of Clinical Alarms on Patient Safety.”
Now, the HTF needs your crucial input as it re-surveys the health care field to determine:

  • Changes in the profession’s perception of clinical alarm issues;
  • Improvements made at their facilities; and
  • Priorities for future action.

Your contribution is critical to the improvement of clinical alarms-related issues and the HTF asks for your input in this important survey. The survey closes September 7 and the HTF asks you to support this timely and relevant survey and the value it brings to patient safety. Click here to take the survey now.
