In an effort to assist health care organizations and governmental agencies around the world achieve higher quality patient care, Joint Commission International (JCI) announces the introduction of the International Essentials of Health Care Quality and Patient Safety (“Essentials").
 
Designed as a quality and safety improvement framework for health care organizations with limited resources, Essentials places its focus on five risk areas that have the greatest impact on improving health care quality and patient safety.
 
The five risk areas include: leadership process and accountability, competent and capable workforce, safe environment for staff and patients, clinical care of patients, and improving quality and safety.
 
Mexico will be the first country to demonstrate the project to the international community.
