Royal Philips Electronics, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, reports a 33% increase in sales of green products in 2007 in its 10th annual sustainability report. All three sectors—health care, lighting, and consumer lifestyle—posted an increase in sales of green products in 2007, resulting in total sales in the sector of EUR 5.3 billion in 2007, compared with EUR 4 billion in 2006.

The company specializes in medical diagnostic imaging and patient monitoring systems, energy efficient lighting solutions, and lifestyle solutions for personal wellbeing.

Sales of green health care products have increased by 35%, boosted by the MRI scanner range and patient monitors. The Achieva 3.0T X-series MRI scanner shows a reduction of the environmental impact of the product by 32% compared to previous models. The new Philips IntelliVue MMS X2 patient monitor consumes 52% less energy during use.

Green lighting sales increased 17%.

The company introduced its EcoVision4 program in September 2007, seeking to double sales of green products to 30% of total revenues within five years, to invest EUR 1 billion in green innovation, and to improve the energy efficiency of offices and production facilities with 25% in the next five years. It reports that sales reached EUR 27 billion in 2007.
