Unotron, Dallas, Tex, has introduced the GermStopper SpillSeal washable corded computer keyboard S6000K, featuring a new design with antibacterial protection incorporated in the plastic.

The company manufactures washable data input and security devices that can be cleaned and disinfected to mitigate the spread of infection in fast-paced health care environments—where obstacles may sometimes pose a challenge to constant disinfection of equipment.

The patented protection allows keyboards to become fully submerged in water or antibacterial solutions for disinfecting.

A broad-spectrum, inorganic silver-based biocide integrated in the keyboards allows silver ions kill the harmful organisms. The method is widely used in Japan and is catching on in the United States and Europe.

The keyboard also features a softer touch for responsive keys and a detachable wrist rest for support.
