The ECRI Institute has announced the results from its recent user experience survey on endoscope reprocessing systems. The survey results show rankings of 11 models based on criteria including reliability, ease of use, compatibility with scopes, service response time, and user training.

According to the organization, the survey data reveal that five vendors dominate the market: Advanced Sterilization Products (ASP), Custom Ultrasonics, Medivators, Olympus, and Steris. In a summary of the results, ECRI notes three key findings:

  • Models with the highest overall user rating scored highest in ease of use and reliability.
  • Models with the lowest overall user rating scored lowest in reliability and serviceability.
  • Eight percent of respondents reported at least one incident of potential failure to sterilize or disinfect flexible endoscopes within the past 12 months.

The summary is available from the institute as a free download. The full report is available to ECRI Institute members on the member website.

ECRI Institute is currently conducting its next user experience survey, which asks medical equipment purchasers to rate MRI systems in their facilities. Results of the survey are planned to be released in May. SELECTplus User Experience Network survey results are currently available for CT scanners, ultrasound imaging, beds, monitors, and alarm management.
