Acertara Acoustic Laboratories, Longmont, Colo, has released for distribution what it describes as the world’s first commercially available ultrasound acoustic dose-analysis and field mapping system. The Acertara Research and Development team, headed by Sonora Medical System Founders, G. Wayne Moore and James Gessert, is the same R&D Group that designed and developed the FirstCall probe testing system.

Aureon is intended for use in the hospital biomedical and medical physics environment as well as in ultrasound research labs, regulatory agency labs, and for ultrasound system original equipment manufacturers. Through directly capturing and measuring the acoustic energy present at the aperture of the ultrasound probe under test, Aureon can detect variations in emitted acoustic power down to a single element even in a large multi-element array.
