Starting this spring, certification exams to become a biomedical equipment technician, radiology equipment specialist, or laboratory equipment specialist will be offered in an electronic format.
With the conversion to an electronic format, there will also be more testing locations and a longer examination period. There will be more than 200 testing centers, compared to 30 sites for previous exams.
The deadline to register for the examinations held at the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) 2012 Annual Conference & Expo is April 28, 2012. The registration for the fall examination period—November 3 through November 17, 2012—is September 22, 2012. Going forward, the tests will be offered three times a year.
