After seven months of development, AAMI has launched an enhanced benchmarking program that allows biomed departments to assess their handling of financial and staffing issues, processes, policies, and procedures. The online system features survey questions, results, charts, and graphs accessed through a dashboard format. In addition, subscribers can use filters to examine subsets of data.

Using the system, departments can compare themselves with facilities of similar size around the world, as well as ask benchmarking experts questions. The program includes tools to create a peer group and assess performance within a multihospital system.

Migration of the survey to the new platform was overseen by Frank Painter, clinical engineering program director at the University of Connecticut; Matt Baretich, CCE, PhD, PE, president of Baretich Engineering; and Ted Cohen, CCE, manager of clinical engineering at UC Davis Medical Center.
