The American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) has canceled its in-person Annual Conference & Technical Exhibition, scheduled for October 4-7 in Chicago, and will instead hold a virtual conference from October 5-7. The decision was made in light of COVID-19 and the ongoing efforts of hospitals and health systems to fight the pandemic in their communities.

Previously, ASHE had hoped to hold an in-person event along with the virtual conference, but determined after monitoring progress with Illinois’s phased reopening plan as well as CDC and local guidelines that an in-person event was not possible in 2020. Therefore, ASHE will deliver its first-ever Virtual Annual Conference and is working with speakers, sponsors, and partners to create a reimagined digital experience for attendees.

“As excited as we were to put on a memorable in-person Annual Meeting in Chicago this fall, the health and safety of our attendees and staff outweighed any other considerations in our decision-making process.” says Deanna Martin, MS, CAE, ASHE executive director. “We’re looking forward to providing our attendees and exhibitors with a collaborative digital experience.”
