The new alert urges careful evaluation of new technology and devices before implementation as to not jeopardize the quality and safety of patient care. It also stresses paying greater attention to understanding when a technology may or may not be applicable, the importance of choosing the right technology, and recommends quickly fixing technology when it becomes counterproductive.
