The American Hospital Association recently appointed health care executives Nancy Howell Agee and R. Timothy Rice to The Joint Commission’s 29-member governing body, the Board of Commissioners, for three-year terms beginning January 2010.

Howell Agee is CEO and executive VP for Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Va, where she heads an 825-bed tertiary care teaching hospital. She also currently chairs the Board of the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association and the Foundation of Roanoke Valley.

Rice, a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, has served as president and CEO of the Moses Cone Health System in Greensboro, NC since 2004. He holds a master’s in health administration from Duke University, and is chair-elect of the board of directors of the North Carolina Hospital Association.
