The Joint Commission (JC) announces the appointment of a new executive director of its Laboratory Accreditation Program—Jennifer F. Rhamy, MBA, MA, MT (ASCP), SBB, HP.

Rhamy previously worked as a blood center consultant and served as vice president of laboratory services for the Indiana Blood Center in Indianapolis for 8 years.

A graduate of both Regis University, Denver, and the University of Colorado, Rhamy has health care experience in both hospitals and blood centers and is familiar with both hospital-based and freestanding clinical laboratories. She is registered as a medical technologist, a specialist in blood banking, and a hemapheresis practitioner by the American Society of Clinical Pathology.

The Joint Commission’s Laboratory Accreditation Program accredits nearly 2,000 organizations that offer laboratory services. The accreditation process includes an onsite, independent assessment of a facility’s compliance with JC standards.
